Children and Families Act and Care Act

Through the Children and Families Act 2014 and Care Act 2014, the Government is proposing that from April 2015, when a child is identified as a young carer, the needs of everyone in the family are to be considered. Guidance and Regulations for the Care Act 2014 are now available.

Regulations and guidance for The Children and Families Act will be out soon, with resources coming out regularly, most recently from SCIE  and The College of Social Work.

Young Carers in Schools Programme

Young Carers in Schools is an exciting England-wide initiative that equips schools to support young carers and awards good practice.

Run jointly by Carers Trust and The Children’s Society Young Carers in Focus partners, we are improving the identification and support of young carers in schools across the country, so that they get the help they need. This initiative is funded by The Queen’s Trust and The Big Lottery Fund.

Health Resources

Caring for Carers
The Caring for Carers Hubs provide information about living well as a carer alongside local information about services, support groups and resources to assist primary care to more effectively support carers and the people they care for.

The main audience is staff working in primary care, including GPs, nurses and practice managers.
